Park is located in the center of Pikes Peak and two miles west from downtown Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs. Go west from I-25 (exit 141) on US Hwy 24 about two miles to 26th Street (Goldcamp Road) and turn left. Park is located on the left. 26th St. has a left turn lane, and a left turn light for easy in and out driving.
If you want to be parked in an overflow parking lot facing an incredibly busy O'Riley's Auto Store on a busy intersection, then this is your place. I admit, the price was right, the location was awesome and the people working there were super nice...BUT, after 3 of our 5 days of feeling squished (we couldn't put out our awning without hitting the camper next to us) and listening to traffic, we had to leave. Site was level, cable didn't work, great wi-fi, very clean laundry room and bathrooms. Just felt like we were camping in an RV sales lot.
This place has a mean owner. Instead of hearing another side, the owner automatically accused me of causing misery in another customer who could not even shade the window. He complained of me using light. He reported to the owner. My dog was legally blind and deaf. He cd not see in dark. No compassion in this mean owner and mean customer who cant even cover window with clothing or blankets. This place is a no no for you!!!! Dont rent this place!!!!!!!
It's true that the RV sites are very close together at this park but the bathrooms are immaculate and you're right across the street from Old Colorado City - a very cool area with good food, good art, and good shopping! The management at this campground is also incredible. Very friendly and go out of their way to ensure you have a good visit. We would stay here again!
This place is all about the location. It is walking distance to Old Colorado City and a couple hiking trails, and a short drive to downtown, Manitou, and Garden of the Gods.
That being said, everything else isn't great. Very tightly packed in. Horrible water pressure. The "dog park" is barely big enough for a Chihuahua to enjoy. Our 25 lb dog refused to go inside it.
Homeless people wander in and out. Our bikes were stolen. Neighbors and staff are sticklers if your car is parked even a little bit outside the "line" of your space.
For the location, we would stay here again.
We typically try to stay in remote places but the location of this park lured us in. We are glad it did. It’s a small park with small spaces but actually perfectly enough when you just need an overnight and a place that’s close to local attractions.
We were pleasantly surprised that as close together everyone is it was super quiet.
Brandon checked us in, pleasant guy and helpful.
It’s not a five star resort but this park gets five stars from us because they did everything right for the park they are.
We would certainly return if in the area.
