This campsite is not marked correctly on Google Maps. The New Fork Lake group campground is across the main road from this loop on the road marked on this map as 731. This campsite is very nice, but is actually the New Fork Lake Campground, with a number of individual campsites. Confusing on both Google Maps and recreation.gov. We booked the group campground, but stayed here the whole weekend before realizing our mistake. We much preferred this lakeside location to the group campsite, which has no view of the lake.
Very rough and run down campground. 15 sites but most are overgrown and small. Not advised for TT or RVs as the access road is the roughest I have ever encountered, almost need high clearance vehicle. Rate is cheap though..$7 nite. Sites have tables, fire rings, and there is a vault toilet.
However No water, trash cans and no cell signal. There is a day use beach area though that is scenic.
This campground was chosen for a family event. We met at the day use area where the parking is pretty limited but there is easy access to the water. The views are incredible and there are multiple hiking trails around the lake. We saw multiple paddle boarders. The road into the campground and to the day use area are very treacherous and if you are driving in a car you should use a lot of caution.
This lake was super nice! The water is clean, but cold if u want to swim. People can swim, kayak, fish or just camp. The terrain is rough once there by shore. We kayaked one evening and the view was spectacular. Also used the side by side and got to see the lake from top. Carry your bear spray.
