About Campground

Pelican Lake Recreation Area is located at 4800 feet and has 13 campsites. Pelican Lake is well known for the outstanding bluegill and bass fishing. Bird watching is a popular pastime in the spring, when the waterfowl come to live and love and rear their downy young.

Directions

From Vernal take Highway 40 west approximately 15 miles to Junction 88. From the junction follow SR-88 south for another 10 miles. At the top of the hill you can see Pelican Lake. At the intersection at the bottom of the hill, turn right/west on 4500 South and then left/south on 14500 East. Various farm roads provide access to other parts of the lake.

This is such a pretty Lake. Totally unexpected in the middle of farm country.

Unexpectedly great little campsite with raised platforms for the tents, fire pits, and bathrooms that actually smelled nice. NOTE: APPROACH FROM PELICAN LAKE ROAD ON THE WEST, NOT THE EAST SIDE. Google Maps seems to think right now there's a road to the east but it's actually all a ranch.

Aside from the lack of trash receptacles, and the bugs, this place is amazing! Just a short drive from Vernal, UT to clean / quiet camping, and nice fishing!

Absolutely garbage google maps directions, now I see someone called that out but I missed that and drove around in the dark on someone’s ranch — scary and unsafe because it’s their ranch and not real roads!!!!

Campsite was okay, lake is pretty but the oil pumps or whatever that is really ruin the nature vibe. I recommend having a good car bc it’s several miles on unpaved roads. Follow the signs that say pelican lake, not google.

If the flora wasn't exceptional, it is, this would be a one star review. I'm not sure if the oil came first or the campground. I can't believe how noisy and near the pump jacks are. A diesel tanker truck drove by at 1am. The reservation system wouldn't let me book one night so I paid for last night and tonight. I wasn't even here yesterday. Pretty flowers in the sagebrush. Vault toilets are clean. Parking spaces are not level. Covered tables and fire ring was appreciated.
