We stayed in a yurt at the camp ground and had a lovely time exploring the trails. The views were beautiful. Most of the hiking trails would be very manageable, even for a family with young children.

This state park is absolutely beautiful!

It is nestled in the rolling hills, secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of life. The Lake is absolutely beautiful.

We rented a pontoon boat for four hours, which was an excellent idea. We enjoyed some fishing and cruising around the lake. We visited the middle of September and were surprised and pleased that it wasn't busy at all. We stayed in the rustic campground. It was a bit difficult to find and I would really hate to try to find it at night. The site are marked T but reserved as R. They are the same thing.

Check the site photographs and dimensions very carefully. Many sites are very small and right next to the road. Cheaper firewood

(and beer) can be found if you go back out to the main road and turn right. It's probably a few miles up the road. Alcohol is not permitted in state parks but use common sense... Highly recommend using minnows when fishing and go to the bridge close to the pylons. I look forward to going again with my girlfriend.

Came for a walk in winter to see sunset but it's cloudy. But I learned that the reason that the old road dips down into the water is that a dam was built to hold water and make this lake. It's quite interesting when you see people walking "in the water" from the beach area, it turns out they are standing on this old road.

We come out to Howard dam every year! They have the pumpkin chunk in. There’s always a great selection of vendors with wonderful food and items for purchase. And it’s so neat to see all the creative cannons and catapult to shoot the pumpkins over the lake. And of course you have to love the miniature cattle parts that they provide for the kids to shoot! And last, but not least my children’s favorite and my own is the pie eating contest

This Park offers a piece of Paradise. Fishing, swimming, Marina with rentals,Campgrounds- Cottages are my favorite. I come for peace, to walk along the trails, listen to the Ravens caw, admire the flight and circling in the sky of Eagles, Hawks…Great place to bring your dog
