About Campground

The 1,200-acre Keystone State Park is great for day-trips and family vacations year round. Camping, modern cabins, many trails, and a lake are all within walking distance, providing an ideal setting for wildlife watching or outdoor adventures.

The park is within easy driving distance from the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, the Laurel Highlands, and their many attractions.

About 100 tent and trailer sites are available from the first Friday in April to the third Sunday of October.

Lakeside Campground is adjacent to the lake. Hillside Campground is in a more remote area of the park and accommodates those camping with pets.

Both campgrounds have a modern bathhouse. A sanitary dump station is available. Shower facilities may not be available after October 1.

The 11 modern cabins are available year round. They are located near the breast of the dam between the two campgrounds.

Three cottages, located in Lakeside Campground, sleep five people in bunk beds.

Two yurts are located in Lakeside Campground.

These round, canvas, and wood-walled tents have a wooden deck and sleep five people in bunk beds.

Directions

The park is in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, three miles from the intersection of PA 981 and US 22. The park office is on SR 1018 (Keystone Park Road). The campground and cabins are on Stone Lodge Road and can be reached from Slag Road (T 860).

This was my first time camping here but the campground was clean and had newer fire rings. The trails are cleared well and provide lots of wildlife to watch. This park is definitely dog friendly almost everyone was walking a dog. Showers were ok...no curtains when I was there and water temp could not be adjusted but they were cleaned well and provided a bench for changing in separate shower stalls. There is electric motor only for boats and fishing was enjoying.

My husband and I rented a cabin for our family reunion, as did other family members. Very nice cabins with porches! They each have a charcoal grill and a fire ring with a grill grate. There are many types of songbirds that sing all day, and the fireflies in the field and trees in front of our cabin are a magical, sparkling and twinkling display that lasts for hours. We enjoyed walking around the lake, walking on the sandy beach, and visiting the campgrounds. Be sure to rent a paddle boat, canoe, kayak, or row boat while you're here!! Beautiful scenery and very relaxing.

Pet friendly!

Such a beautiful park!

Why go leaf peeping in New England when the colors here are just as beautiful!

Nice trails to get a good walk in.

Please pick up after your pets.

Gorgeous park. Super quiet without motorized boats or the annoying music people play over their pontoon's loud speakers. The lake is usually clean and well stocked with fish when it's not super rainy the night before. Overall great experience.

We love this park for so many reasons in all four seasons. The trails are great and offer many levels of doable adventure, not too hilly which I love considering many alternative trails in the area. The water is beautiful and there are tons of places throughout to sit and relax. The beach and playground is wonderful in the summer! Plenty of places to park around the lake so you can see all of the different areas!
