About Campground

Riverside Riverside is a campground with an exceptional view of Bartlett Dam. Because of the close proximity to water, fisherman and avid water recreationalist enjoy this spot all year long. Riverside is less busy than most of our recsites near water because it only allows non-motorized boats. The Verde River and the riparian area are ideal for bird watching. Bald eagles are occasionally seen here.

Directions

This site is 23 miles east of Carefree. Take Cave Creek Road for 7 miles then turn right on Bartlett Dam Road and continue for 13 miles. Just before reaching the Jojoba Boating site, FR 19 becomes a maintained gravel road that turns south (right). Follow it for another 3 miles to Riverside. Click Here For Map.

Great place to go camping near Phoenix. We have no cell phone signal here and are able to camp pretty close to the water. Great place for a day trip or camping. The drive on the dirt road can get bumpy. I've made it to the campsite in my Mitsubishi lancer sedan and Dodge truck without issues.

This is a great little spot.... was an adventure to find but when we got there we had a great time! The rapid waters was wonderfully cold made for a good weekend getaway . Just know no running water so take plenty of hand washing water or antibacterial gel. Plus the skunks are a little gangsta... definitely want to put away any food items you want to use up high. We lost a whole pack of tortillas due to thinking they could get on the top of the picnic table....lol... oh well live and learn.

It was great. Love the fire ring and that we were so close to the water only a short distance walk. Beautiful scenery and temperature was just right. Lots of shade, water was pretty cold. Bathrooms were also nearby. So beautiful.

Views are beautiful leading up to the campsite!! Sites were somewhat clean. Previous campers left some trash in the fire pit and pet food on the ground. Not sure how these sites are policed by park rangers. The site next to ours had a smoking log in the pit (again, previous campers), even though there was a fire ban. Not sure how family friendly it is. We stayed 1 night
