One of the best ways to get close to the Statue of Liberty and not pay a dime!

I'd say it's almost more memorable to see the skyline of the city from the boat than the statue itself! Afterall the boat passes the island with an approximate distance of 750 meters or 2500 feet, so you will need a decent camera to take a good picture!

Since the ferry is free it gets really really busy, even though it departs every 30 minutes at its peak times. While I visited on Sunday, the queue started in the middle of the terminal and crowd pushing on the boat was carnage!

We stayed at the back of the boat which was the perfect spot not only to see the Statue of Liberty back the whole Manhattan skyline!

Last visited in May 2023.

It’s gift to be able to pass through the liberty statue for free and enjoy the beautiful little trip it offers. The statue is not so near but you can see it perfectly and take some pics.

The terminal is acceptable for a travel hub and is the average travel hub. The fact that you can get a ferry for free that goes right past the Statue of Liberty is great. If you're a visiting tourist, make sure you take this ferry despite it getting really busy on the Lady Liberty side.

What an incredible service offered by the city of New York.

The ferry is free, so beware of people trying to sell you tickets on the streets outside the terminal.

The ferry is safe and well run and you cannot feel much movement as it makes its way to and from Statton Island.

Very unique experience in NYC that is free to ride. A must do for any visitor. Get on the ferry via the platform and exit in staten island. There are 3 levels of seating and outdoor deck you can walk out on. The third floor deck gives you a view to the captains post. Excellent views of the statue of liberty, and also the new york city skyline and buildings. Not far from the 9/11 museum to the Whitehall terminal. I will definitely ride the ferry again in the near future. See you soon, and thanks NYC.
