FROM THE HOUSTON AREA

Take IH-10 East toward Beaumont, about a 90 minute drive. Continue through Beaumont staying on IH-10 and exit at Orange on SH-87. Take a left on Hwy 87 North and travel approximately 60 miles to Newton. The first major intersection in Newton will be Hwy 190. Take a right on Hwy 190 (East) and you will arrive at our historic Newton County Courthouse Square. A 4-way stop sign at the Square will indicate Hwy 190 East, turn right. Follow Hwy 190 East for approximately 2.5 miles and you will see Whispering Creek Motel & RV Park on the left.

FROM THE NORTH

Several routes from the north will bring you to Newton, Texas. Highway 87 travels parallel to the Sabine River. It is a very scenic route going south, however, you will encounter hills and curves during your travel. Highway 96 is another good choice. Follow Highway 59 South from Texarkana to Tenaha, which is a few miles south of Carthage. Take Highway 96 at Tenaha and go south for about 75 miles at which point you will intersect Highway 190 in Jasper. Take a left (East) and travel approximately 15 miles to our historic Newton County Courthouse Square. Follow Hwy 190 East from the Square for approximately 3 miles and you will arrive at Whispering Creek Motel & RV Park.

FROM SOUTH LOUISIANA

Follow IH-10 West to SH-87 at Orange, Texas and follow the directions above. Another scenic route, as well as missing some of the construction on IH-10 is to travel US 190 from Baton Rouge west to near Ragley. Go north on 171/190 to Deridder, Louisiana and follow 190. When you cross the Sabine River, you will travel only another 15 minutes into Texas and Whispering Creek will be on the right side of Hwy 190.

FROM NORTHWEST LOUISIANA

Follow 171 South to Deridder and turn on US Hwy 190 toward Texas.

The rooms are nice size but if you really inspect it, you’ll find that it does not get cleaned like it’s should be. Also, check the coffee pot before you make any coffee

Beautiful little place with log cabins that include a bed, couch, kitchenette, and large bathroom. Very comfortable! There are rv spots, as well as hotel-type rooms. There is an in-ground pool during summer hours and polite/accommodating staff.

Surrounded by woods, but close to the quaint, little town of Newton.

Was there to pick up my brother this weekend and just needed somewhere to lay my head for the night. Audrey, was super polite and nice. The rooms were clean. The atmosphere was peaceful. Audrey was up cooking breakfast the next morning, then she was over there cleaning rooms. This lady need a raise! All I will say is this place is a hidden jewel!!!!! ❤ This is the place to come and vacation and do absolutely nothing but just soak up the environment and atmosphere!

I came up late and they had my key ready for me. My room was immaculately cleaned, smelled great and was perfectly comfortable. The price is great and they had good coffee in the morning. 10/10 I will be back next month
