A popular semi-primitive campground adjacent to the Cranberry River and the "lower-gate" entrance to the Cranberry Backcountry. This campground receives very high use during trout stocking from the beginning of spring through the end of June and again in the fall from September through October. During these high use times there are usually more campers waiting than there are sites available. During high use, the centrally located Bishop Knob Campground can usually accommodate campers when no sites are available along the Cranberry or Williams River Corridors. Located on Forest Road 76, 13.5 miles from Richwood, West Virginia, and 7 miles from Dyer, West Virginia.
From Richwood travel on mile east on State Route 39/55, then 12.5 miles north on Forest Road 76.
From Dyer on State Route 46 take Forest Road 101 approximately 6 miles, then left onto Forest Road 76 for one mile.
This is the campgrounds we had a picnic at why we all were on the Cranberry River.
I've been camping here my entire life! I love the campground and everything about it! They have nice restroom facilities too and keep they pretty clean!
Beautiful , camp site clean a fire ring for cooking, hand pump well for water.
Deluxe outhouses.. and no cell service.....now that part was equally amazing. Fishing is decent too many people at camp ground when we went. Fish were small and we went after gold rush way to many golden trout still left in the fished out holes. Definitely had to get away from camp grounds to fish. Lots of hikingtwalking available. All in all had a great week. Reminder no hookups for campers just to let you know. Probably why it is still a good arrea to go!
We loved this place it was very quite and the bathroom was clean it’s sort fancy outhouse style no running water in it. There was a well pump to get fresh water. We did use it and it was freezing cold and clean tasting. There is a box that you put the money in, it’s setup on the honor system, each space had a fire pit and picnic table the river was a Ricks throw away. You could here it and see it if the leave weren’t to thick Literally across the dirt road.
Absolutely loved this place, great fishing, community and such friendly people. A nice place to go and unwind and get to know nature.
