Boating is nice, but there is a lot of floating debris. Swimming in the designated swim area used to be great, but in the last couple of years, it seems that the geese poop all over the shoreline. You have to watch your step walking on the beach. I don't think anyone cleans it, or if they do, it isn't frequent enough.
Good lake for swimming. The swim area is roped off and clearly marked. It is a large swim area so people aren't right on top of each other. The ground in the water is pretty rocky, so swim shoes are helpful. There is a nice playground for younger kids, too. Bathrooms are right up the small hill and someone opened a coffee stand near the park which is AWESOME! The only negative thing is the goose poop. There is a lot of it and some of it is so large you'd almost think it was from a dog - but it isn't.
It was a well-organized and pleasant park. The picnic spot has a lawn so wide that you can't miss anywhere, a beach side boat lamp, and other swimming areas are well separated, and I think it's a great place to practice paddle boats and kayaks.
The entrance fee was $10.00 and the day I went was no fee day. There is a camping site right next door and a place to play beach volleyball. I recommend this place .
If only we had brought our swimsuits we could've gone swimming in the designated swimming area. It's a beautiful lake and was quite busy on the 4th of July. There is a cute playground and plenty of picnic tables. We saw people fishing and boating and riding jet skis.
Just spent the day kayaking a small bit of the lake. Beautiful day on a stunning lake. So much to take it. We will be visiting again.
The boat launch was a 7 out of 10 for a kayak.
Boats with motors are allowed and on a busy day this would not be a great place for beginners.
