This pleasant well developed horse camp is located in a wooded site on the base of Mount Adams. There is a loading ramp and water for stock only. Water is not for human consumption. Each site has a highline. An open field next to the campground provides space for over flow camping and a beautiful view of the mountain. A twenty mile trail system that can lead to Mt. Adams Wilderness is accessible from the campground.
In Trout Lake, WA, at intersection of State Rt. 141 and Mt Adams Rec Hwy, take Mt Adams Rec Hwy north 1.9 miles to a "Y" intersection and South Clinch trail/Forest Rt. 80 signs. Bear left onto Forest Rt. 80 and go 2.1 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign onto gravel roadway and go 0.5 miles to another campground sign. Turn right at sign into campground.
Wonderful place to camp with a view of Mt Adams 24/7. Trails were nice except for dust on the big tree trail. We were able to move out quite a bit with not a lot of step climbs. Horse trough in camp with high lines, picnic tables and fire rings at each site. Minimal $5 per night with the Northwest Forest pass.
Beautiful setting. Fairly small campground but a huge area for overflow in the field which can accomodate a lot of campers. Great riding trails. Some close in to camp are wide enough for two people's lives to ride side by side. Most of the trails are moderate and not too strenuous for the horses. Love camping here.
Always delightful. Well-signed to camp, though slightly different than GPS directions. Highlines, bathroom, stock water, manure bins, lots of grass.
Beautiful campsite if you have horses! We went out to see a meteor shower and didn’t realize this area is truly meant for people with horses. There are signs asking campers without horses to choose another campground. Luckily the people there were very kind. There was a night endurance ride which was fun to witness along with the meteor shower
