From Trout Lake: Take Forest Road 2480.
It’s a huge forest, I haven’t seen it all but It’s beautiful with strangely few large wildlife. The campgrounds were I worked, Takhlakh Lake and Walupt Lake didn’t even have bear garbage cans?! WTH? I tripped me out when I first arrived, but no bears. This is my second year camp hosting in this forest, and still no bears.
Mt Adams nice Mt. Camp airea has rest rooms kind of smelly but plenty of toilet paper. If you want to hike the Mt. Hurry the rate gos up next year, funny thing they just started fees this year. Road to Mt. Is verry rough trenches pot holes and Rutt's I recommend truck or SUV 4 wheel drive preferred but I've seen cars make it up but hard on a car.little parking areas around top airea and more down below.
One of my favorite places on Earth. I come here every summer. There are multiple highlights... Hot springs, old gold mine tailings, beautiful rivers full of amazing rocks, and amazing lush forests. I love to just get in the car and drive around the Wind river and panther creek areas, finding hidden lakes and mountain top views. There's dispersed camping all over the place as well as many campgrounds. This is my happy place.
We where south side of Adam's up from town of trout lake. Which they where having sweet street market. Lots of trails to explore and hiking to be done. Great wildlife and camping. Check it out if you love the out doors. Good scenic drive also.
