Campbell Tree Grove Campground is located adjacent to the West Fork Humptulips River in the beautiful temperate rain forest. The Campbell Tree Grove encompasses an impressive stand of old growth which illuminate this distinctive and vital wild area. Access to the West Fork Humptulips Trail #806 along the river adjacent to the campground.
From Aberdeen, WA take Highway 101 north for 25 miles to Forest Service Road 22/Donkey Creek Road. Turn right on the Donkey Creek Road and drive 8 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 2204. Turn left and drive 14 miles to Campbell Tree Grove Campground. Alternate access route: Via Forest Service Road 2220 to Forest Service Road 2204.
One of the best campgrounds, one hour off of 101, limited spots, decent primitive toillet and no fee.
The campground itself is amazing. Decent campsites with picnic tables and firepits. Downside is the 45+ minute drive down the bumpy gravel road after pulling off the main road. Even though it's a less than 10 miles away the local store is a whole adventure. Other than that the only problem was the MESQUITOS. They were absolutely relentless. We has bug spray, citronella candles, and bracelets and still we all god bit at least 20 times but it's to be expected mid July.
Absolutely stunning campground that had everything we needed to have a wonderful weekend. Beautiful nature in a private setting.
Excellent Campground! Well maintained dirt road coming in, old growth trees hard to miss as you slow to turn in, finding about a dozen or so numbered camping and parking sites varying in size with a couple vaulted toilets. This bumbling traveler recommends site #4, as it has a trail through a dry creek bed along the way to the flowing creek. Sign up saying fires are disallowed but small cooking rigs OK. Easy section of forest trail connects at the campground just don't step on a slug! Some mosquitoes but they left me alone after a dose of bugspray.
Great campground! Very beautiful, just as good as anywhere in the park, and this was free. It's a ways up a gravel road to get there, but it's a good road and a pretty drive. The trail that goes through the sites is a bit over grown and we were unable to follow it. Dog friendly on a leash. Toilets were basic pit style but about as clean as those get.
