From Shelton,WA take US Highway 101 for 6 miles north. Then turn west onto the Skokomish Valley Road. Follow Skokomish Valley Road for about 8 miles to the forest boundary. Continue on Forest Road 23 for about another 5 miles to Forest Service Road 2353. Turn right and drive approximately ¾ mile to the South Fork Skokomish River Bridge. Cross the bridge and make a sharp turn to the right onto Forest Service Road 2340. Brown Creek Campground is located ¼ mile beyond this point.
Here’s an update for Brown Creek Camping and shooting range area. A lot of trees are down right now but it’s accessible. We make a big loop driving through the backroads starting from steelhead bridge, come up by the shooting range area to the right, and down to the camp sites. Just stick to left 😊 that road goes in a big loop.
Update 06/2022 it’s all clear 🤙🏽
(Note) please take your garbage with you after shooting. We try to pick up the garbage left behind by others when we visit up there. Pack it in, pack it out.
Fun little clean campground. Lot of hiking trails. No garbage cans is the only downside.
Great place, lots of beautiful nature, and trails. Only downside to our spot, was the logging trucks in the early hours traveling to and from their pick up spots. Other than that, it was very peaceful, spacious, and not for the type of campers that can't make their own toilet outside.... Nor for the type of campers that don't clean up after themselves. You have to take your trash with you, since there's no dumpster/cans around. (because if the wild life preservation)
Somewhat busy even on a weeknight in early December. The road there is mostly paved so lots of van life people wander out. Nice big sites with river views. Downside is the sites open all season have a road going through (not a dead end or circle) so there is extra traffic. Would not want to stay there during the main season.
Fun overnighter with work mates. We lucked out and got a site on the River. This time of year they only have 6 sites open. Even on a Sunday morning, there was only one site open for the 5 of us. Ample space for us, nice area. The privy was clean and well supplied with the best John Wayne tp you can buy☺️ We brought wood which was a good idea, but the chain saw we also brought came in handy, there is lots of dry fall down.
