About Campground

Walnut Grove Campground has a rich history of family camping along the beautiful Sandusky Scenic River in the uncharacteristic rolling hills in Seneca County. There have been five camp owners since the campground was developed in 1945 on a local family farm. The 52 acre camp has an upper and lower section with fishing ponds. The lower part has 70 sites that are located along the Sandusky Scenic River and has beautiful shade trees on the large camping lots. The remaining sites are located in the upper section. We welcome all campers and offer water, sewer and electric sites for those who would like to stay a short while, a month, or the season. In addition, we offer electric or primitive tent sites. For campers who do not have campers/tents, we offer cabins and an air-conditioned and heated fully furnished house (rental tab) that sleeps nine. The upper and lower sections have shelters for group camping.

We thought this place was going to be awesome. We got a seasonal spot. It's a nice park but no leadership and very poor communication. After getting set up we were informed by other campers that we could get a picnic table and fire provided by the campground. I went to the office/store and talked to the owner. He took my name, lot number and said he would have the table and fire provided by end of the week. Totally understandable as it was just the start of camping season and everyone was setting up. We left went back no ring and no table. A fellow camper said there were 2 on a site that was no longer needed. So we loaded it up and took it to my site. It still took 2 more weeks and multiple conversations to get the fire ring.

Then memorial day the pool broke. Stuff breaks, I get it but no communication? It's going to be down until the end of June because of the pump? That's ridiculous!! On top of this we find out that the game room is being closed because kids are being disrespectful? If kids are misbehaving and tearing it up, why not find out who the parents are and handle it that way? Not close it for all the kids. That's like closing the freeway because a few people are speeding. Lol

Anybody wanna buy a camper and seasonal spot?

We stayed three nights, four days, beautiful grounds, and a wonderful pool. The staff were wonderful, very helpful, and pleasant. They went above and beyond to help us out. I hope we can make it again. Thank you all for your kindness and patience with us.

We checked in, gave us wrong cabin. My wife is in boot and crutches and booked cabin with ramp… have it to someone else. Cabin unclean, fridge filthy, nothing wiped down, curtains crumbled up and thrown in loft, beer caps everywhere inside and on porch, water bottles in fire pit. Then in middle of night, I feel something on my chest. Bed bug. We caught it and will be giving to management. Went to take shower, clumps of hair all over floor in bath, benches in shower not wiped down, disgusting. Very sad as we were looking forward to staying here often now that our son attends college at Tiffin …

The staff were very welcoming. The spot was terrific. The staff checked after we got settled if everything was okay. In addition, there was a food truck and it was delicious.

Good place for family camping. We stayed in cabin first time, liked it so much we came back as permanent campers last two years.

Even with all the covid restrictions, they have lots for the kids. Our new favorite place!
