About Campground

The Pines is a rustic campground in a wooded setting, located adjacent to Barbour's Creek, a stocked trout stream. Most of the campsites are designed for tents, but small recreation vehicles can be accommodated. Jeep enthusiasts can experience some of the most challenging 4-wheeling in Virginia at nearby Potts Mountain Jeep Road.

Would've been nice to camp here...planned to, but when we arrived the gate was locked. No explanation as to why and the website did show it was supposed to be open. Had to find another spot up the road. Bummer.

This is such a beautiful campground! The sites are nice and roomy and each have a fire pit with a grate and a sturdy picnic table. There are several secure trash cans around the area, so you can dispose of your garbage safely. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. There is a board at the front entrance with maps and suggestions of things to do around the area. New Castle is 30 minutes away where you can pick up supplies and get cell reception.

We hiked the Lipes Branch trail. The trail is overgrown in places but not overall hard to follow. It starts off flat but about 30 minutes in gets much steeper. It provides beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

10 sets for camping you can also camp across the street by the creek and can stay 21 days I feel very safe because there's a lot of police activity and unmarked cars and mark cars so there's a lot of activity out here especially with the Jeep trail not too far they do have a water for drinking they do test regularly and they got toilet type bathrooms stayed here for two nights we'll stay again it is a quiet out here did see a bear and a bunch of deer
