About Campground

Overview

Mirror Lake Campground is located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway on the shores of its beautiful namesake lake at an elevation of 10,400 feet. The byway cuts through the Uinta Mountains, which are known for their abundant recreational opportunities and scenic beauty.

Recreation

Mirror Lake offers great canoeing and kayaking opportunities. Anglers enjoy fishing for rainbow trout. The lake is open only to non-motorized watercraft.

A gravel-surfaced interpretive nature trail circles the lake. Visitors of all ages enjoy learning about local flora and fauna through a series of educational displays scattered along the trail.

Many hiking, biking, horse and off-road vehicle trails crisscross this beautiful region, including trails to Bonnie Lake, Scudder Lake and Naturalist Basin, all part of the Highline Trail. Fehr Lake Trail begins just outside the campground. Bald Mountain Trail can be accessed nearby.

Facilities

The campground contains several single and double campsites, some of which are accessible, all with picnic and utility tables, tent pads and campfire rings with grills. Equestrian sites are available on a separate loop. Many sites have partial lake views.

Vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are dirt. A day-use picnic area and small boat ramp are located on the lake shore.

Campsites 65-79 are equipped for equestrian use (horses, mules, lamas) hitching rails and feeding boxes.

Natural Features

Mirror Lake is situated at the base of the 11,943-foot Bald Mountain. The campground lies among a forest of white fir trees, which provides partial shade. Colorful summer wildflowers dot the landscape. Summer temperatures range from 65-75 degrees during the day to 40-50 degrees at night.

Fantastic location with incredible scenery and awesome campground. For my latest visit, I wanted to check out the stars. I was not disappointed. Bald Mountain and Murdock Mountain added great detail to the pics. And the lack of wind on this particular night made the reflections on the water very detailed. I was also very impressed with the path and sometimes boardwalk around the lake which made my location finding in the dark very easy.

Loki (my doggo) loved it. Even tried to stop me from putting up the tent.

Great place to hike, and get away from it all.

No service at the lake or nearby, make sure to call/text everyone before heading up.

The night sky is insane up there

We traveled to this distant lake, within miles of the Wyoming border. We traveled for miles and miles and miles then finally there it was! We arrived at the end of the day, the Sun was low in the sky, there was a chill in the air....thirty seven degrees chilly. So I wasn't sure why someone brought a Refrigerator??? It was pretty cool and I'm not talking about the air temperature. I'm talking about the scenery, the lake, the mountains, the pine trees. Awesome!

Very clean Campground. On the weekends there can be a lot of people around the lake and around the walking trail that circles the entire lake. There are several other lakes, trails, outlooks, and other beautiful areas to view that are within driving distance (e.g. Provo Falls).

Love #MirrorLake in the beautiful High #UintaMountains of Utah. I come up at least once a year. Sometimes I Camp, sometimes just to visit and hike. I love camping with the dark skies to see the stars. The Camp sites are wonderful and diverse, some overlook the lake, some overlook the tree filled valleys. All sites grant easy access to the lake and have close by water and toilets. The cooler temperatures during the summer is a fantastic escape from the city. I enjoy coming late summer as the bugs aren’t a problem. The nights start to get cold and the morning can be crisp but it’s a great time of year to come. Visiting on weekdays is great as the crowds are not there. The lake is spectacular with Beautiful reflections of #BaldMountain and surrounding nature. It really is like a Mirror. The walk around the lake is an easy 1.5 miles which is great for older family and friends, and young kids can find plenty to see and do on the easy hike. Great fishing, wonderful boating. A beautiful jewel in the Uinta Mountains.
