Camping overnight is not allowed at the Buckskin Gulch Trailhead, but there are some dispersed sites along House Rock Valley Road
This is an awesome slot canyon, despite the fact that we drove 8 torturous miles on a road that was barely fit to drive on. We went in by the wire pass which is approximately a 2 mile hike to the canyon, but it was well worth it. Make sure to have plenty of water.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Such an amazing hike. I highly recommend. Dog friendly, not many people. Brings lots of water.
No advance permit is needed, but there is a $6 per person charge. Read note below how to pay at the trailhead.
Start on wirepass trail (same traihead you use to start the wave) and keep walking until the end of the wash. Really easy, flat walk. We walked about a mile before we got to the slot canyon and then walked about another 3/4 mile until the trail split, and then we turned around. At the trail split, there are beautiful hieroglyphs, and you can also observe the sheer magnificence and size of the slot canyon. Truly breathtaking.
Longest slot canyon in the world and one of the most beautiful in Utah. Not very crowded when we went around 5 pm. There are paper slips at the trailhead that you can use to pay - $6 per person for a day trip - and display on your car for the ranger. I cannot recommend this trail enough. The 3 mile round-trip hike is childfriendy . We saw a few pets on the trail as well. There is a small section where you climb up and down a makeshift ladder, it's pretty sturdy though. The hike is easy and soooooo BEAUTIFUL. It's one of my favorite hikes around Kanab/Page. $6 per person to hike it. Worth it!!!
hiked wire pass to white house . easy hike in 1.7, to confluence 12 but felt like 17. Great camp ground up high . To get out was about another 7 miles . Great slot canyon. total 21 miles
We love the slots in southwest USA. Have seen a lot - but buckskin is over the edge. Give it a try - as long or far as you like - breathtaking fotos will be your award. CU next year again.
