This is my favorite place. It is quite very excluded their is outhouses at all three campsite. Unfortunately they are normally filled with bugs, but still its a crapper. From buttom to top it is an 18 mile primitive dirt road. The road can be washed out in places rocks so a small care can bottom out and road is extremely narrow in some spots it not even enough room for two compact cars to pass let alone two bid trucks. I own a checy suburban which has 4x4 no you do not need 4x4 but I suggest it During the snow and monsoon season. This is not a place to bring a travel trailer **MAYBE** a small pop-up or a frame but really weight the options on that too, because the road is very narrow and their is a lot of hair pin turns during the 18 mile drive and you have to think about others coming down need room to get around you. There is no railing on this road either and their is a lot of drop off the plummet straight down into a valley. You will start off from desert land scape and end in alpine, pine, oak and just pristine beauty of Arizona high county.

Love the drive through the Pinal mountains. It's so peaceful and beautiful. My last visit I saw several deer. The views from the mountain are stunning.

This location is great and a wonderful alternative from having to go "up north" from phoenix. Keep in mind that the campsite is at elevation, so prepare to stay warm. There are 3 camping spots at this location with number 1 being the best in my opinion.

Very beautiful and scenic. About 78 degrees in June...so very nice change from PHX metro area. Bathrooms and picnic tables are available. Lots of hiking trails also

Off road vehicle is not required as roads are somewhat maintained, but I'd definitely not attempt drive in normal car if it's raining or snowing, as entire trip is dirt roads. Also beware if you have a low profile vehicle.

No services...so pack according and make sure you have gas
