About Campground

Our natural, unspoiled desert setting is the main draw to

Desert Trails RV Park in Tucson, Arizona. But we have also accumulated many amenities since 1998, and we surprise our guests with the extent of our facilities. We are an adult 40+ RV park and attract an energetic customer base. This is reflected in our hiking, biking, dances, aerobics, and other outdoor activities. We offer a campground atmosphere, unlike other RV Parks, and don’t offer “annual rates” for permanent residents. Every “off-season” we upgrade infrastructure as well as improve existing buildings and create new spaces for expanding activities. The Trailer Life (Good Sam) directory recognizes this too, by increasing our “ratings” to 9/9/9.

Not under any measurable category are the amazing artists who perform 2-3 times per week. Our enthusiastic audiences also like the conventional “shows.” All evenings are well attended and generate an “electric” intimate atmosphere which encourages top names to return to our relatively small venue at Desert Trails. On nights without live music, we fill up the rest of the schedule with lectures, bingo, karaoke, poker, and games.

Directions

GPS: 32.18264N, -111.14924W

Take 1-10 to Tucson. Take 1-19 (which only heads south) for approx. 1 mile. Get into far right lane. Exit on Ajo Way (also known as Route 86) and turn right. Go approx. 8 1/2 miles and turn right on San Joaquin Road. Go approx. 2 1/2 miles - to the one & only stop sign. Desert Trails RV Park is straight beyond the intersection, approx. 500 yards up, on the right side of the road. Tips: Using a GPS system will frequently get you lost as City Maps have not been updated. Mapquest or Google would be better. Directions are available by Phone 24/7 if you call us toll free 1 888 883 8340 and press option #1.

Been here for just over two months now. And coming back next yr for 4 months. Leaving 5/1. Great old park. Tons of hiking within 10 to 15 minutes or right from the park. Downtown Tucson is just a hop over hills. Relatively close to various shopping centers. Something here for everyone. Food trucks come 3 days out of the week. Tons of activities. Pool. Bands. Just all around a great campground.

Good location for outdoor adventures like mountain biking, hiking. Near Tucson Mountain Park, Desert Museum, Old Tucson and more. Spaces are decent, some have more room than others. Showers and bathrooms are well kept. There is a local "community vibe" you can't help but absorb as you walk around. Most everyone says hello and welcomes newcomers. We received advice on trails and attractions.

Desert Trails RV Park is a hidden gem in Tucson. Located just outside of Saguaro National Park, the RV Park has a lot of amenities: showers, swimming pool, workout room, library, clubhouse, kitchen, game room, and scheduled activities during the winter. It is surrounded by several scenic bike and hiking trails. Everything is a bit rustic but works fine. Our full hookups worked and we had no problems. The WiFi worked fine on all our devices. The RV park is a winter resort, so you'll have more difficulty finding reservations between November and April. However, during the summer, it's practically empty - which is great if you want privacy. Jesse runs the place, and she is friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this RV park.

5th time there. Men's showers pretty minimal. Ones by the pool have never worked. Pool ice cold this year and hot tub, more like a petri dish. Great propane service, wonderful location. Emptiest we've seen it. Still like it but... seems to be slipping a wee bit. Sign of the times. Would probably stay there again, hoping they put some time into the pool area, like they do the golf course.

We enjoyed our brief stay at Desert Trails RV Park. We love Tucson, and it's one of our favorite spots for the winter. We tend to stay at the neighboring park Justin's Diamond J, which has a little simpler and more open feel. However, we were impressed with all of the amenities offered at this park: showers and laundry, dog parks, a pool, and plenty of areas for gathering and activities. They have a thriving community with a calendar of events -- including concerts -- and we particularly love that the park backs up to a beautiful trail system leading to Tucson Mountain State Park. It's also in a great location near Saguaro National Park, the newly reopened Old Tucson Studios, and the Desert Museum. Check our YouTube video for more details on the park and surrounding restaurants and attractions. *Note that this is a 40+ park.*
