Beautiful plateau with great hiking trails. Go closer to sunset. It's breathtaking to watch the sun change the mountains color. I'm a little disappointed we didn't find the treasure. Maybe next time?
*Side Note*
I recommend driving a bit further(20-25 minutes) than the parks entrance well before sunset. Make sure to CAUSTIOUSLY continue down the road as it offers the captivating Canyon Lake.
Siphon Draw to Flat Iron across the ridgline and down Hieroglyphics Springs through partial snow. One of the most beautiful hikes out there.
A magical place! Got bitten by a ball of cactus, but worth every bite of pain. Go find out yourself. I almost went there barefoot, thinking it's just sand, like a beach. Haha.
Hiking the Superstious Mountain in Arizona to see the petroglyphs left by the Native tribe, Ho Ho Kam 800 years ago. It was such an interesting hike with the desert mountains, terrains were so different with cacti and their blossoms.
Hieroglyphic Trail - This trail is now one of my favorites! The trail is considered easy but I think at times it can be considered close to moderate as there were a few areas that required a little climbing - especially once you get to the end. At the start of the trail, there is bilboard providing history of the trail. Walk past that and a green gate greets you asking you keep it closed for cattle. Um, didnt see any cattle but it is a good precaution none the less. The two things that get people to hike there are of course the hieroglyphs but small waterfalls. No waterfalls this trip and read that they only happen early spring? The heiroglyphs were really facsinating and there is a rock formation that have sheltered the early settlors? Overall, family friendly, great views and lots of history!
