From jct Hwy 12 & Hwy 32: Go 5 mi S on Hwy 32, then 2 mi SW on Swanzey Lake Rd, then 1/2 mi N on East Shore Rd.
The beautiful lawn & water access across from the campground was the only positive. Poorly manicured site, had to remove several tree branches just to pull into our site, not to mention the stench of sewer the entire weekend throughout the campground.
A big beautiful waterfront on Swanzey Lake an area to relax, sunbath, swim or rent a boat or even a cottage. The Campground is in a wooded area which is very spacious and is equipped to handle any camper. Their are many places nearby within driving distance that will accommodate any shopper, the adventurous or foodies. But their waterfront is so beautiful you may find yourself taking in all the wonderful opportunities their and not venturing out at all. Their is plenty of fun contests and boat races for children and party boat tours that go out regularly around this stunning lake. This family Campground I will say is the best and the most Casual and the most fun around It is also a Family owned campground. You will find yourself right at home staying here.
This is the definition of a 3 star campground. The lawn by the lake is nice and everyone of the staff we interacted with were nice. The facilities are not the nicest and the place could use some sprucing up. One thing I found to be a little unnecessary was to charge $10 per day to keep your vessel down by the water versus having to haul it from a campground across the street each time. We had 3 kayaks and $30 a day to leave them seems excessive. There was plenty of room and we had already paid to camp. It seems that would be included. They also love their tea's in the camp store for what that is worth.
Great store when it’s open but that’s about it.. i don’t believe the trees throughout the campground have had attention in 10+ year, not to mention they are very strict on not allowing you to cut anything…even dead branches... No working bathrooms by any campsites..you literally have to walk across the road to use the bathroom.
So if you want roof damage to your camper and wanna walk a long distance just to use the 80’s bathroom by the office, this is your campground. One care per campsite even though most sites have plenty of room for 2…you guessed it..parking is across the street.. Very very sad. Not what i remember as a kid camping here. Just lazy.
We do a lot of camping all around the East Coast. Swansy lake campground, has a good location and the people are nice, but they have clearly prioritized profits over maintenance.
It needs about a 1000 trees taken town. The roads need to be maintained and widened. The main drawback is the lack of bathroom facilities and showers. In the campground, there's absolutely nothing. (well, there are a few old fashioned dirt outhouses) And across the street, a 5 minute walk there is a small shower facility with coin operated showers two each and a real toilet. Considering the profits from hundreds of campsites (that were full) this level of no facilities is inexcusable.
That said, we had no problems overall and the beach area was very well maintained.
