Sunny Sands held its grand opening in April 1963. Though there have been a few changes throughout the years, one thing has remained constant - Sunny Sands is and always has been a family-oriented, clothing optional resort. Though we are nestled in the fern fields of northwest Volusia County, Sunny Sands is within a reasonable driving distance from Orlando, Jacksonville, Ocala and Daytona Beach.
Sunny Sands is 42 acres of natural Florida beauty. With a permanent mobile home community, rental units, full RV hook-ups, tent camping sites and daily visits available, we offer something for almost everyone. From a round of golf to a dip in the pool. Stretch out in the sun or nap in the shade. Stay for a day, a weekend, a season or for good.

I have never been to a clothing optional place before, but my hubby is a naturist/nudist and I am fully accepting of the lifestyle and have no problem being around it. I loved the resort and the people were the friendliest I've ever been around. The area was lovely and the grounds and facilities were very well kept. My hubby was so happy there that I felt guilty when it came time to leave. We will definitely go back.
I work here,, but I WOULD stay if I were camping!!! I Luv th "Out In Th Woods" aspect of this place!!! It's not jus an "Out in th Woods Feel",, you are Actually Out in th Woods!!!
We work hard to keep th place looking good and running good!!! Please do your share to pick up your own mess. Yes, we're dog and kid friendly, all we ask is you be respectful and pick up after them.
Happy New Year, have a great day!!!

I spent the weekend here and found it very relaxing. People were very friendly, staff was great they that made sure you had what you needed. The pool and hot tub were clean , They have a restaurant on sight which I had dinner at pool side. I been to many places and this place is high up on my list and I will return for sure. Only issue was the trails. But the others things more than made up for it. Put this place on your bucket list!
This is our second or third experience at a nudist campground and absolutely love it! The one thing that you'll find is that it's not awkward or weird and there is no sexual overtones whatsoever at this place.
The people are super friendly, the pool is clean, and the talk is plentiful! Most nights people are getting together around a fire or at a table playing cards or games and chatting away like you've known them for years. This is probably one of the most welcoming groups of people that I have ever encountered.
One thing that was a little bit sad was the fact that they no longer have the restaurant and bar which was a bit disappointing. But we definitely cook a lot on our own so it wasn't too bad of a problem.
The path around the pond is lovely. All the streets are walkable and it's a very nice little community. It's nestled in an area where there are basically just fern farms around you. There's not too much to do in that town, but they have a great little Mexican grocery store that has some killer skirt steak. It's called Alicia's.
One cool thing about this area is that they do have a game room and lots of books. They also have laundry facilities and the grounds are well kept.
Cell phone reception and Wi-Fi or spotty at best. We were in site number two right on center Street. There are homes that are available for sale or rent as well as places for RVs, like ours, to park.
It's probably about 20 minutes north of DeLand Florida and about 40 minutes away from the beach. But a nice little secluded area we would definitely come back!
Making sure no one was in the picture, I wanted to make sure I got a picture of the beautiful walkway so you could see the path you get to walk along by the pond. And yes there are alligators there. But they were more afraid of us then we were of them. There were a few kinds of cranes and multiple other kinds of birds and lots of squirrels as well.
