This place is not great...
Nobody was here to greet me at check-in...I had to wait 30 minutes. Apparently, that is standard operating procedure. There is no toilet paper, hand-soap, or hand towels in the men's restroom (which only gets cleaned about every 5 days)...so gross! The kitchen is a total disaster and is almost always locked when I need to do dishes. There are sewer flies in both the kitchen and the men's restroom.
The communication is horrible...there's usually a 50/50 chance I'll get a response to my text message. The road noise and airport noise are nearly unbearable. Also, there is junk all over the campground that should be thrown away or brought to storage. This is not a junkyard.
And now, I've got a neighbor who thinks it's okay to run his radio all night!
Sandy is super nice, but that's no replacement for standard amenities. I will not be back.
On a brighter note, Gulf Shores is totally awesome and the beach is beautiful!
Never been bothered by the sound traffic any time I have ever stayed here. Love this place. Staff was friendly and very helpful. All of the guys that Gave us rides to and from the festival were awesome. They would even have breakfast ready in the morning and supper at night. I have stayed here many of times in the past but this 2017 music fest was my best experience yet!
Thanks Southport will be there 2018 to do it all over again
This hidden little gem it’s tucked away nicely by the intercostal waterway under the highway 59 bridge into Gulf Shores. The spaces are kind of close together but lots of trees for shade and a nice little fishing dock. Space rent isn’t outrageous but spots are in high demand and hard to get so plan ahead. And don’t speed thru people are always out and about and kids are playing also the dirt roads has a lot of dips and pot holes
We love it here. Our camper stays here year round. 6 months out and 6 months in storage. This place is run by some amazing people.
I left the campground in 2011. Many things have happened in my life since then . I don't care what people say bad about this place. It was a wonderful place for me it gave me peace. I remember sitting near the canal every morning and watching the dolphins come through. I've never felt so at peace in my lifetime. They took me in as If I was family. I remember going to a racetrack with all of them one summer evening I had never been. I have missed it there for so many years I had to go north back to Michigan. Every time somebody asked me. Where is the happiest place you've ever been seek that. Well before they would ask I already knew in my heart and my soul it was at this campground. Where I met these wonderful people. I'm trying so hard to go back. God has put me on this track and is guiding me back to where he knows I need to be. So many wonderful memories and happy times. And laughs and smiles. Lots and lots of laughs and smiles with these wonderful people. I'm saying prayers that I get back there soon. I'm back in Alabama and purchased with the help from my family a nice RV and a new vehicle. That much is done. So I know God is leading me to where I can call home and feel home.. once again. I love y'all. I have missed you dearly. Through all these years of being gone all I ever talked about was when I lived on the canal and and watched the dolphins every morning and where I met the most amazing wonderful folks . 😌☺️😏🙃🙂🙃🙂 Oh and the amazing Black humongous potbelly pig they called her. She took to me also. She was at my front door every morning after getting out from under my camper where she made herself a cool spot by digging a hole and staying cooled off under there. I know she's probably not around anymore but I've missed her too....
