Absolutely a beautiful place

Keep in mind it is primitive camping and you will love it!

Nicely maintained and usually totally not crowded with nice clean showers and bathrooms. Some shellers with tables and grills. Potable water sites. Swim area, shallow and somewhat hot in summer but nice for kids. Totally underused and underrated. Short hiking trails, limited fishing (again, more for kiddies entertainment not serious anglers). $2 fee for a very pleasant quiet day of hamburgers and splashing and drowning in sun or shade.

It seems like a very lovely place to hike, saw birds and reptiles in the short time we explored. The problem is it is poorly maintained. Trails that should be beautiful and peaceful are overgrown and hard to follow due to wide spacing of white blazes. It's certainly doable but you absolutely have to wear long pants and tuck them into your socks for sure. What a shame there arent more resources dedicated to this region. It's quite nice!

Love this place it is dear to my heart my family has enjoyed this park and camped for 45 plus years. But I can’t understand why they built new showers and nice bathrooms and then tore them down and put up little port-a-pots that are worth less and dangerous for kids this is a wonderful campground let’s put showers back and power at the sites . If we need to pay more we will do our part a lot of horse riders and motorcycle riders would use it if we had a way to clean up this is going down hill instead of improving for the public
