About Campground

Looking for a vacation that's a little different, a little more, a little better than your last one? That's why we're here. At Sky Ridge, we strive to give our guests a place where they can relax and reconnect with themselves and with nature without giving up the comforts of home.

Perched high atop a mountainous ridge line with a view that will take your breath away, you'll find seven well-appointed yurts ready and waiting for you and your friends and family to experience the Great Smoky Mountains in a completely new and changing way. You just might not want to leave.

Directions

We are located in the beautiful Nantahala Gorge just minutes away from the world-famous Nantahala Outdoor Center. Our road is very well maintained and cars (yes, even Ferraris!) make it up to the top of the Ridge with no problems. We would suggest only experienced motorcyclists attempt to ride to the top, as the road is groomed gravel all the way. In winter months when there is snow or ice on the ground, four-wheel drive is always a nice thing to have.

Sky Ridge Yurts was a wonderful experience for me and my husband! This was part of our 40th anniversary celebration. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful location. The mountain views were stunning, and the inside of our yurt (the Nantahala) was also beautiful and very comfortable and cozy. We were an easy drive into Bryson City and Cherokee. We will definitely stay here again!

Stayed there for a night with the family after going to the train rides. The main problem I had with it was how dark the trails are at night when your going up the hill. Not so much fun. Needs more reflective things on the cliff slide of the hills. Then in the yurts they should change out some of the outlets with ones that have usb ports to charge people devices would be great. Overall the yurt was great internet didn't work so no TV on a stormy night.

If you like being quiet and listening to nature around you, then this is the place and Bryson city is such a quaint little town with so much to see and it is easily walkable. We spent much of our time when in the Yurt on our patio. The view we beautiful and the sunsets even more so.

Only downfall, is If you need to do any mixing for your cooking, bring your own mixing bowls. It needs at least one chair and another small table inside. And expect some natural downfalls, this is a working town and the power company changed out a transformer and so we were without power about 5 hours. But we had sunny skies and was able to enjoy the outside more.

If traveling here, Cardinal Coffee is the best coffee, and a quick muffin, Danish or scotcharoo. This coffee house is very close by, and the High-Test Deli was another stop for lunch downtown Bryson city.

We stayed in the Stecoah house. It was a beautiful house with beautiful views. The property manager was very responsive. We had an issue with locks and she responded immediately. We have already booked our next stay for the Fall. Going to try out a yurt this time!

We have been coming here for at least 12 years. Melissa, Kathy and Richard go over and beyond taking care of everything. We love coming and staying in yurts never gets old. New adventures every trip. Spacious, top of the line beds, linens, awesome bathrooms. The view of the mountains is gorgeous.
