It's a comfortable spot with a lot of very kind workers and neighbors. Everyone at this RV spot was incredibly nice and helpful to us, as a group of folk who don't do this too often. The weather was a bit rainy, and it maintained a 50-degree average in the summer, but it was gorgeous.

Lots of beautiful greenery and mountain views from anywhere near. I would highly recommend this spot!

South Fork is a great base for exploring the San Juans and to our minds, Silver Thread Basecamp is the RV Park of choice. Located well off and below the highway on the banks of the Rio Grande River in a grove of trees, sites are generally well-shaded. Some sites directly on the river are available. The Park is clean and well maintained and the managers are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Due to a problem with our reservation (our fault, not the park’s) we had to change sites for our 6th and final night. We went from a roomy, shady spot we’d been quite happy in, to a riverfront spot that was, well… we decided to forgo our final day of exploring and spent the day fishing and listening to the pleasant river sounds. The best thing we can say about the park? We HATED having to leave.

We truly enjoyed our one week stay at STBC campground. We were at a riverfront site #18 which was very relaxing. There were a LOT of mosquitoes which isn't something they have any control over so depending upon time of year bring your bug spray! My husband was happy with the hook ups and loved the water pressure, lol.

The bath house was very simple but clean.

The dog park is small, lacking appeal, dry and our dog got pretty dirty but at least it's a place they can play with other dogs.

The staff was great, very helpful and friendly.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Hope you do too!

Just stopped in to say hello to new owners. Already seems like an upgrade wit addition of three covered wagons! Full electric, toilet, heat/AC, bedding for 4, and one sleeps 6. New owners are very knowledgeable about campsites as they have others. Very friendly! Workers live on site so very helpful and take great care of guests and grounds. Right on the river. Close to town.

The Bride and I camped there in our travel trailer right next to the river. The grounds were well kept, and in great condition. They even made it a point to pick up the fallen tree limbs and place them in the fire pits. The price was very fair given the central location to everything we wanted to do and see. The staff were very polite and helpful. We could see that the new ownership were sinking money into improving the facilities. We will definitely stay there again when in the area.
