Visited from Syracuse, Ny. Booked a tent site from 09/07-09/11 to ride Highland MTB park during the day. Camp was clean and quiet. Amazing showers and heated bathroom. The people that run the place are extremely nice and welcoming as well. Will definitely be back next time I plan a trip to Highland.
Beautiful peaceful campground and friendly, accommodating owners. This was 2022.
Update: campground was sold. This year, the people managing campground were not that friendly, and never waved or acknowledged people, when driving by. The bathrooms were not very clean and toilet paper was just laying on a board to the side of the toilet. Dawn dish detergent was on the side of the sink for soap. Our site had
not been mowed...grass was really long and weeds and saplings growing around trees. Just not the clean and friendly campground it use to be.
I visited here in the spring with 3 other people. We rented a cabin and it was a great experience! The cabin was really cozy and well maintained. The owners were really friendly and when we had an issue with our water pressure in the shower he came right ove to help(although the issue did not get fixed). The public bathrooms were definitely small but clean. We weren’t there long, but I would have loved to stay long enough to enjoy the swimming and lawn games. I thought the lawn games were a nice addition! My only complaint is what other reviewers have said, the seasonal owners are pretty rude. I was running late to my cousins wedding(the reason we all stayed here) and drove maybe 3-5mph over the posted speed limit and someone yelled very loudly and rudely that I slow down from their site. No one was in the road and again I wasn’t that much over the limit. I also felt that the seasonal owners looked down on visitors just based on the glances we received at other times during our stay. It left a bad impression of the campground.
All the 4 and 5 star reviews you are reading are from previous years. Silver Lake Campground was bought out in October of 2022 by Modern America Campgrounds. It had been a Family owned campground for decades. My husband and I are seasonals and have been here for 5 years. This season was the worse. Grounds were not maintained. Bathrooms were not cleaned. Price increases and Management totally incompetent. In less than a season they have ruined our beautiful place. Modern America Campgrounds have scooped up many of the mom and pop campgrounds in NH, MA, Maine. If you read the new reviews for 2023 for their newly acquired campgrounds you will see how very unhappy everyone is and how people are leaving. Also never contact the facilitators at Modern America for any reason because they will scream at you on the phone, bully you and use the same words they have used for others in different campgrounds they own, "Sounds like you're not happy here. You'll need to find another campground." Then they will not offer you a contract for the following year. My husband and I have never brought a concern to anyone in the campground until the handicap shower was broken for over 5 weeks and out of order. We simply asked when it might be fixed. The facilitator was Derek at the corporate office. He has spoken to others this way too. We were told if we had any concerns to call them and the one time we did this is how he treated us and others. Modern America and their management and facilitator team have failed as owners and as human beings. My recommendation is to stay away from any campground that Modern America owns. Stick to family owned campground. You will be so much happier.
This campground went down hill. Ever since a corporation bought it out in October of 2022 it was not the same. We have been returning visitors for several years and I have never seen it so bad. Bathrooms dirty, grounds not kept and office is barely open. The manager has no personality and never smiles. It was sad to see as we used to enjoy it so much when it was family owned. The previous owners were so caring and took such love and pride in the campground and always participated in the activities. Not the same at all. Only Family owned campgrounds for us from now on.
