The staff was nice enough, however the only amenities are laundry and bathrooms (we didn't use either). It seems to be in a residential neighborhood, but we did not explore at all. We didn't even use our electric bikes. Sites are right on top of each other. There are no picnic tables, grills, or fire rings. For $58/night we expected more. The USS Alabama is only about 6 miles away.
That was awesome and well worth the trip.
My wife and I visited Mobile for a weekend getaway to catch some Mardi Gras parades. We found Shady Acres on a google search, I read the reviews. We decided to give them a try. This little campground is well maintained, they are very close to downtown Mobile and we really didn’t hear much noise, it’s a city, the distant train is a regular. We will make more trips to mobile now that we’ve found you!
Nice small campground close to mobile. Several full time RVs that could use a bit of TLC. Truck across the street from us had flat tires and looks like it had been there for awhile.
Staff super friendly and helpful staff = they want to “tidy” up however staffing is hard to find like everywhere these days.
They have a small area for laundry and mail- we did not do laundry here so I can’t comment on that.
We have a 41’ tow hauler and had lots of room to park with no tree issues. We walked our dog around the neighborhood and felt very safe - you do need to watch out for other animals though.
We stayed at Shady Acres Campground for 3 nights in our 40 foot 5th wheel. Accessing Old Military Road to get to the campground provided quite a challenge in making the right turn, as the roads are very narrow and tight. Navigating the park was not bad, but trees were in need of trimming. While the campground has no control for noise, the airport nearby had planes flying overhead for around 1 to 2 hours daily. Sites were fairly level. Cable was provided. If you are looking for a short term stay, Shady Acres Campground would suffice. Prices were very reasonable.
Not great start to the trip. Got an email 20 mins from arrival that they moved us to a different spot (not even a phone call) from one I booked well in advance. Upon arrival no one in the “office” and low oak limbs hanging over the drive to our site. If you have a TPO membrane roof, I recommend somewhere else so you can avoid the stress. Not worth it IMHO. If you have a tall rig …avoid site 25 at all cost.
