Campsite: Shady Acres Campground

We stayed at Shady Acres Campground for 3 nights in our 40 foot 5th wheel. Accessing Old Military Road to get to the campground provided quite a challenge in making the right turn, as the roads are very narrow and tight. Navigating the park was not bad, but trees were in need of trimming. While the campground has no control for noise, the airport nearby had planes flying overhead for around 1 to 2 hours daily. Sites were fairly level. Cable was provided. If you are looking for a short term stay, Shady Acres Campground would suffice. Prices were very reasonable.

Campsite: Houston East RV Resort

Houston East RV Resort sits right off of I-10. We were escorted to our site - a nice plus. Staff was friendly. Our site was level. We stayed two nights (we left a day early to avoid an incoming storm). Cable was so-so as channels were not clear. We were able to pick up over 100 channels with our antenna. You could hear traffic on I-10. Good place for a short stay.

Campsite: Coopers Rock State Forest

We visited the overlook inside Coopers Rock State Forest. The views are indescribable! If you have never been here and are in the area, I can't recommend enough how awesome this overlook is. If you are not stable on your feet, be warned the overlook is slightly downhill, so be sure to watch your step. Thoroughly enjoyed this place.

Campsite: Sand Springs Campground

Very nice campground in the woods. Our site accommodated our 40 foot fifth wheel easily. No wi-fi or cable TV, but our phones worked great, and our antenna picked up over 69 channels. Close by a lot of attractions, including Coopers Rock State Forest overlook and Don Knotts Statue in Morgantown. We enjoyed our stay.
