We had an amazing Cub Scout event!! 2 nights with over 70 people. Safely conducted with a great 3 mile loop trail hike. Only one bathroom nearby was weird, but that was our bad for not calling ahead to have cleaned out. Overall a great location to camp and all within a short drive if living in the San Fernando Valley!! :-))
Great area to hike in. Free parking in lower lot, just inside gate. $5 parking in upper lot. Watch out for rattle snakes and enjoy the views. Also has 1 group campsite available to rent.
An interesting hiking and rock scrambling area, with sweeping views of Simi Valley and parts of the San Fernando Valley, as well. Located close to the infamous Rocketdyne/Boeing Field Lab, you also get some good views of the facility, including some of the Superfund cleanup areas from rocket testing.
There is one big loop trail, but many side trails and offshoots that take you to many interesting rock formations and overlooks. There are many varied flora and fauna, including deer, bobcats, and an occasional mountain lion. Parking in the lower lot is free, with a pay ($5) lot up the paved road a bit.
Great place to hike and detach from life's cares. I love this place. It's peaceful and not crowded!
