Background. I have been travelling and camping for over 10 years now. State campsites, private campgrounds, national forests, KOA.
I came to Roscoe to flyfish on the beaverkill and willomemoc. I stayed at Russell Brook campground for 13 days.
Great location off old rte. 17. Close to Roscoe and Livingston Falls. Spacious RV and tent sites surrounded by forest. Bathhouses immaculate. Friendly, attentive staff and competitive pricing. Beautiful brook running along the sites. I look forward to returning next year.
One of the best campgrounds I have visited.
I don't know why but I had such low expectations when I went there. I don't camp so I really expected a miserable experience. From the second I pulled in I was welcomed immediately, the landscaping was so incredibly beautifully natural. The owners, themselves welcomed me and gave me a private tour of grounds. I was in awe of how quite, clean and well kept everything was. I got a list of activities the campsite was hosting,as well as events going on locally. The bath house, restrooms and the private library were all immaculately kept. I give the owners so much credit because I asked a million questions, took so many photos and they graciously kept answering and humoring my nonsense. I highly recommend Russell Brook Campsites.
The road getting in there is too tight for 2 way traffic of 2 rvs. So is parts of the campground, especially between sites 77 and 96. You just drive and pray nobody is coming from the other direction. The campground caters to seasonal sites. Many branches and trees scraped our rv on the way in and out. The tree on the inside corner by site 22? Should be taken out. Very few sites are allocated for short term campers and they are very unlevel. Extreme measures had to be taken to level. The place was quiet. Tried 4 cell company signals, att was the only one that barely works. The store and arcade area was neat, so is the powerwheel in the woods. Loose dogs from other campers kept entering our campsite. Pool wasn't used, ice cold. Just leaving an honest review.
This place is a gem and if your looking for a laid back, relaxing getaway.. this is it. Cabins are always clean and neat and the owners are awesome and very helpful. Many of the campsites are located right by the river and it’s a must see. The campgrounds have a pool and playground for kids and two fishing ponds for kids that love to fish and be in the outdoors.
It's definitely our favorite place to camp. We come from Yonkers, NY and this camp site is such a clam, beautiful place. It's also quite easy to get there too. It's the third time we come camping here. My family and I love it!! Highly recommend this place 100%.
