From NYC: NY 17 West to Exit 94; turn left off ramp to NY 206 West; drive 3 miles on NY 206 West; turn right onto Beaverkill Road; drive 4 miles on Beaverkill Road to a Y intersection; turn right on to Berrybrook Road (note: Right hand turn is very east to miss. The road goes up a hill and kicks back at an awkward angle); drive 1 mile to the campground entrance on the right. From Western NY: NY 17 East to Exit 94; turn left off ramp; go 1/10 mile and turn left at the traffic light onto NY 206 West; turn right onto Beaverkill Road; drive 4 miles on Beaverkill Road to a Y intersection; turn right on to Berrybrook Road Spur; drive 1 mile to the campground entrance on the right.
Overall a pretty good place to camp. Right on the river so great for hotter months. Though most of the river is shallow but a few places are around 5 feet to lay/dunk in plus a larger deeper section under the bridge you could swim in. Dogs loved it. Bathrooms were clean. Only one shower station a bit of a walk away from main camping sites, but multiple toilet stations were closer. Stated sorting station for recycling but garage/room was just 2 bins to place all bags. No designated washing station for dishes even though red bear status. Sites were a little on the smaller side and very close, literally right next to your neighbor site. But spent most of the time walking through the river and hiking. 0 cell service.
Clean public area. Great for day visit or camping. Great for all types of fishing for Trout. Open hiking trails.
I hesitate to write this review because I’m afraid I’ll have a harder time getting a reservation next time BUT this place is absolutely the most peaceful calming zen campground I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The river runs along it and the sound of the water is almost hypnotic. No power, no internet, no cell service. Just you and nature. I was there for 4 nights, left to do 8 days in the finger lakes, cut that trip in half and returned to Beaverkill because the river was calling me back. Spot 73 is the best by far. There were few people playing their music a bit louder than I’d like, and the bathrooms were a tiny bit outdated but the location and staff were just so over the top amazing it more than made up for it. I can not wait to go back.
Loved it here. Campsite 77. Some of the sites are a little close together, but ours was in a great spot with nobody across from us. Our site also had a small sandy beach area instead of just rocks like most of the other waterfront spots. Apparently sites 71-75 are in high demand and have seasonal renters who come every year. Staff was friendly, the place is dog-friendly, and we had a great time. Plenty of river space to put up a chair and have a soda in the water right by your campsite if you get a water spot. Shallow all the way across this time of year. July 2020. No more than thigh-deep where we were. Walking across is easy but a little slick, duh. Great birdwatching.
