Gorgeous and endless walking areas, never crowded in the fall.
I was greeted by a Sandhill Crane near the entrance who ran in front of me for a while. It is rather dry and dusty this time of year with lots of 🪰 ticks and 🦟 🦟 🦟. But lots of great Geocaches to be found!
Did some camping out there and it was pretty quite and calm. Didnt even see anybody else on a weekend. Very large area in general with pull offs to park and camp that are spaced apart enough to give you that isolated feeling. Great place and very clean.
Beautiful and private...except lots of traffic on the weekend for hunting. Chipmunks and howling at night. Can hear occasional turkeys calling and cows mooing. If you go to the grocery store by the casino you can get a big bundle of wood for the same price as what you get at the gas stations. The closest gas station was about 20 min and kwik trip maybe another 5 or 10 minutes further and walmart is about 35 or 40 minutes away .The first night we were there we heard whooping noises, wood knocking, and rocks were being thrown at our tent and around it!
