After busy days at Yellowstone, hanging out on this beach was a really nice change of pace. It was quiet, sunny and beautiful. There aren't any amenities at this location, and be sure to go all the way to the end because there's also a private beach close to the end. The water was cool but not too cold to swim.

all the other negative reviews are accurate. no matter the time of year the mosquitoes are terrible and it’s always crowded with no parking and little to no room to hang out. and don’t even try getting near the docks…i made that mistake and the owners were not happy. they’re all private! not to mention the lake is FREEZING. oh! and i guaranteed damaged my suspension trying to drive there. the road is horrible

My recent visit to the beach adjacent to Hebgen Lake was an experience I would rather forget. The idyllic image of a peaceful and picturesque shoreline was shattered as I encountered a horrifying sight: a beach overrun by a relentless infestation of bugs. What was supposed to be a day of relaxation and enjoyment turned into a nightmare of constant swatting, itching, and a desperate battle against nature's relentless assault.

From the moment I set foot on the sand, I was immediately bombarded by a swarm of insects. Mosquitoes seemed to have made this beach their breeding ground, attacking with unyielding determination. Their incessant buzzing filled the air, and no amount of bug spray could ward off their relentless pursuit. I found myself constantly slapping at my exposed skin, desperately trying to fend off the onslaught, but to no avail.

To make matters worse, it wasn't just mosquitoes that plagued the area. Flies of all shapes and sizes descended upon the beach, creating an atmosphere that was far from the serene retreat I had envisioned. These persistent pests landed on every available surface, making it nearly impossible to relax or enjoy any moment of tranquility. The constant annoyance and discomfort made it clear that this beach was anything but a sanctuary for those seeking solace in nature.

The bug infestation wasn't limited to the sand either. The surrounding vegetation seemed to be teeming with insects, which only amplified the problem. Every step I took sent clouds of bugs scattering into the air, adding an extra layer of torment to an already unbearable situation. The once inviting trails and paths were now breeding grounds for an array of creepy crawlies, further detracting from any enjoyment I had hoped to find.

It's important to note that the presence of bugs is not entirely unexpected in outdoor environments, especially near bodies of water. However, the sheer magnitude of the infestation at this particular beach was truly appalling. It left me wondering whether any measures were being taken to mitigate the problem or if the management of the area was simply turning a blind eye to the discomfort faced by visitors.

In addition to the physical discomfort caused by the bugs, the infestation also raised concerns about health and safety. Mosquitoes, known carriers of diseases such as West Nile virus, posed a genuine risk to anyone spending time in the area. The lack of any visible pest control efforts or signage advising visitors of the potential dangers left me questioning the responsibility and commitment of those in charge of maintaining the beach.

Overall, my experience at the bug-infested beach next to Hebgen Lake was nothing short of a nightmare. The relentless onslaught of mosquitoes and flies made it impossible to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings or find any respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The lack of measures to address the bug infestation and the absence of information regarding potential health risks were disconcerting, to say the least.

If you're planning a visit to the beach next to Hebgen Lake, I would strongly advise against it. The bug infestation is a pervasive and relentless problem that detracts from any potential enjoyment. Instead, I recommend exploring alternative destinations in the area that prioritize visitor comfort and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.

Terrible beach. The “sand” will destroy your feet if you walk on it for more than 5 minutes. Tons of bugs everywhere. Also, the water is beyond freezing cold, even in July…

Warning - docks are private and you will almost certainly be told that by anyone who is out there.

UPDATE 2023: The mosquitos are insufferable, even with the strongest of repellent (I prefer deet-based). You will almost certainly get eaten alive here.
