Nice small quiet campground. Bathrooms were clean and short distance to launch kayak on Shields Lake. Will be back sometime.

Visit: Camping at end of July.

Pros: almost 2 miles of wide and mowed nature trails. Clean, modern bathrooms. Affordable rates. Quiet. All modern electric and water hookups

Cons: tightly packed camp sites. no shade - planted trees still not to full size. Fishing pier surrounded by thick matt of heavy weeds. No beach.

Good atmosphere. Other than us and another camper everyone else was local so, lots of friendly people. Since the lake is a main attraction, it seems like all other options are not cared for as much but we still managed to hike (only few yards deep though) on some of the poorly maintained trails. Bathrooms and shower ok but do not expect too much. Overall, nice peaceful place to bring a family.

My husband and I came to the area for a wedding and decided to stay at the campground. We stayed for the weekend and was by the water. Other campers were quiet and kept their dogs leashed at all times. We brought our two small dogs and everything was fine. I never used the shower facilities, but they were clean. The bathrooms were pretty clean and my husband was very impressed. We were by the lake and walked onto the dock occasionally. The campground is rather small and all we seen were the multiple campers in front of our view. Pretty much no privacy and packed in like sardines. We prefer more privacy and not the "sardine effect". However, for a place to stay over a weekend, especially since we were not there as much, the campground sufficed for our Needs.
