On November 28, 1990, Congress created the [Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area.](https://www.blm.gov/national-conservation-lands/arizona/gilabox) Four perennial waterways - the Gila River, Bonita Creek, Eagle Creek, and San Francisco River - are the lifeblood of this remarkable place. The Gila Box RNCA holds one of the most significant riparian zones in the southwest and offers tremendous recreational opportunities. Owl Creek Campground has 7 camping unit spaces, picnic tables, grills, ramadas, and restroom facilities available to make your stay more enjoyable. The campground is a stop on the Black Hills Back Country Byway.
Owl Creek Campground is located 10 miles south of Clifton within the Gila Box Riparian National Conservation Area. The campground is located at the east end of the Black Hills Back Country Byway perched on a cliff overlooking the historic Old Safford Bridge.
Pretty deserted. One pit toilet. Grass, snakes, beautiful nature. I really love this campground. Four bars of cell service too.
I was looking for a place to rake my grandkids camping. My youngest one cant go too high in elevation because of ear troubles and surgeries. This campground hasn't been kept up. The grass is too high, so the chances of snakes and such is too risky. It would be a nice place if it was taken care of but there's no way I would camp there right now.
Awesome campground. Dirt road a little bumpy but we made it in a motorhome. Beautiful views. Level camp spots with a fire pit and a covered picnic table.. clean pit toilets. We will return here.
NOT on the river, the river is downhill, but this is safe from flash floods. Nice spot up on top with a view of the scenery. Picnic table with cover, vault toilets, and covered metal trash. Tight campground but a 26ft trailer fit by backing in carefully. Beautiful spot to sit at the river and nice wading. Clean clear water with mostly sandy gravel bottom.
