Spring Creek Campground is located in an open pine forest near a small meadow. Just a short drive from Interstate 84, this small campground offers 4 campsites which are occassionally used for family reunions or group camping.
From La Grande travle northwest on Interstate 84 for about 12.5 miles to the Spring Creek Road Exit 248; Travel southwest on the Spring Creek Road which becomes Forest Road 21 for 1.5 miles to the campground entrance on the right side of the road.
Oh my gosh you guys, this is a really great little place to sleep in my van. My friend slept outside next to the fire to presumably see the stars. He was completely huddled up inside the sleeping bag because it was something like 36. It was cold. There is a lovely meadow there! I think there's five camping spots, there is no potable water, there is no trash cans. There is a vault toilet. Really nice place and it's free.
Amazing campground. Saw deer on the way in.
Green, lush forest all around with the creek babbling and running right near the sites.
It is a hardpack gravel road. Watch for potholes.
Single, clean restroom facility.
Based on a couple trails near the sites it looks like they may be used for off-roading.
We were the only ones there. 1st-2nd of June 2022.
I will definitely be back
Nice free campground minutes off the highway. I camped here Labor Day weekend and found a spot no problem. There are plenty of camping spots beyond the designated ones.
