Piedmont Lake Marina & Campground

I don't know what happened with this place. The first time we rented a pontoon from here, we were in heaven. This time not so much. As usual, the lake was relaxing and the young man who rented me the boat was friendly. The pontoon was not in the best shape. The young guy who went over the details of operating the boat seemed bothered and disinterested about doing it. There were things on the boat that did not function, like the kill switch, the latch on one door that my husband had to use a rubber band to keep it shut and the radio did not work. Also, the phone number had changed to the business. He didn't bother to give it in case we needed to call if something went wrong. There wasn't even a whistle to use.

Mind you it was a Monday and not very busy with customers. He should have seen maybe this boat should NOT be rented and since I was not driving the boat, wait until my husband was on board before going over the rules of the boat. In my opinion, the condition of this boat was not fit for use in the first place. In that regard, there were two other boats in much better condition on the dock but we were given this boat instead. We returned to the dock before our time was up because my husband forgot some reels for fishing. No one came out to see if anything was wrong or help us dock the boat. My husband managed to do it himself. Once we came in for good, again no one bothered to help with the docking until an older gentleman saw my husband struggling to tie the boat off and came to help. I'm sorry, but the lack of customer service had me feeling some kind of way about this. Why were we given this vessel when there were newer vessles just sitting there and why the absence of workers on the dock? What if there had been an actual emergency? If you decide to rent, make sure everything is operating before setting sail and personnel is around if you need help. So disappointing since we love pontooning. Might be a while before returning or recommending this place again.
