This place is absolutely loaded with Obsidian and volcanic rock. All shapes and sizes. Fun fun! Watch out for the mosquitos. We came the first week of November and were savagely attacked! No joke.

Beautiful area to see the Salton Sea! We locals called it Black Rock due to the Volcanic rock all around this area to Sonny Bono Wildlife reserve and Red Hill! Lots of Snow Geese are all ready in the area also. Great for Bird watching/pics) and it's FREE!!

Beautiful rocks & a nice view of the Salton Sea. It does look like a big pile of rocks & gravel at first but keep looking around. You’ll notice shiny & odd-shaped boulders made of obsidian! Walk around & appreciate this natural oddity.

If you want to grab some obsidian, this is the place. Lots of glassy black obsidian flows in the area. Plus, other rhyolite that didn't form obsidian while cooling.
