Hearth Stone Campground is an absolute gem for family fun. One of the standout features is the pristine beach it offers, which is perfect for relaxation and play. It's a fantastic place to create lasting memories with loved ones. We had a blast, and the scenic beauty just added to the charm. Highly recommend it for a fun-filled family getaway!

My family and I recently stayed at Hearthstone Point Campground. This was our third time camping there.

The campground itself is nestled amidst stunning natural surroundings, with towering trees and the tranquil waters of the Lake George nearby. The campsites were well-maintained and spacious, offering plenty of privacy for each group.

During our stay, we enjoyed swimming in the lake George, and spending time by the campfire. Restrooms and showers were clean as much as they could be at a campground. However, some shower cabins didn’t have hot water. Tent sites were tidy and free from litter when we arrived. They’re equipped with a fire pit and picnic table. Unlike the last time, during our past visits, each tent sites were left with a log piece to burn. There’s plenty of dead branches around to burn. There’s also firewood sold.

The staff took great care to ensure the grounds were tidy and free from litter. They also visited to check how we were enjoying our stay.

Additionally, the campground's proximity to popular attractions, such as scenic overlooks and charming Lake George Town, made our stay even more memorable.

While our stay at Hearthstone Point Campground was wonderful overall, one minor drawback that affected our experience was the presence of the main road running through the campground. During the day, it didn't cause much concern, but at night, a few cars with loud exhaust passed by, woke me up from my sleep. This is not within the control of the management. Despite this, it was only a slight inconvenience, and everything else about the campground more than made up for it.

Prepare for the unpredictable weather! Rain or even thunderstorms might impact the quality of the stay but I guess this is the part of tent-camping! Just expect some rain and be prepared even if the forecast doesn’t show rain!

I can't wait to visit again and create more cherished memories. Highly recommended!

We love this campground and have stayed several times over the years. However, weather it is due to staffing shortages or lack of funding...the campground has gone WAY downhill this year. We just got back from a 4 day trip there *was supposed to be 5, but we decided to leave early). The grounds are messy, dirty, and not maintained. I don't blame the staff, as most days we were there...there were only 2 people on staff for the whole campground. The beach area was dirty, eroded, and in disarray. In addition to the short-staffing...there are many more inconsiderate slobs frequenting this campground than ever before. They leave their trash everywhere, and don't pick up after themselves. Maybe start issuing fines to deter these people's careless actions. My family really, really loved this campground, but after this past trip...we all agreed to look elsewhere for next summer. It's a real shame to lose such a great state park to neglect.

Great state campground I visited as a child 20 years ago and have returned to as an adult. This location has the amenities you need at a good price.

There are quiet hours but not all groups follow it too strictly nor is it terribly enforced well. The campground is mostly quiet after 11pm.

This campground does not have a dock but it does have a nice little sandy beach.

I wouldn’t even give a 1 star, this camp ground is absolutely disgusting. The showers are unbelievably gross. With mud, hair, garbage all over the shower floors. The camp site had garbage on the ground still from previous campers. Bathrooms look like they haven’t been cleaned in years. And barely any of the toilets work. Before leaving one day I tried going to the bathroom only to be greeted by some guy staring into the bathrooms with a huge smile on his face. About 11 o’clock till 1 2 am some truck kept riding up and down the “road” and turning round in the middle of our campsite and shining the lights into our windows. Came to lake George for an event for the weekend. We barely stayed at the site long enough to say so. Came back one day to let kids nap and rest. Never once had a fire. Didn’t even have wood with us. We got up left, went back to the strip. Only to return with a note on our camper stating not to burn garbage, or plastic. That it’s illegal and smells. Signed by “park ranger”. So these ranger took it upon themselves to snoop through our camp site while we were gone. And make up complete lies since all of our garbage was in the camper in a garbage can. I will never return to this camp ground. And I wouldn’t advise any one else to even visit.
