About Campground

Recreational yurts are a modern adaptation of an ancient nomadic shelter. Functionally speaking, they’re a cross between a tent and a cabin. The park has four yurts adjacent to the Cove View Campground. Each has a large wooden deck with patio tables, a picnic table and a fire ring with a cooking grate. Reservations are required. Parking for two vehicles is allowed. Those with additional vehicles must pay a daily parking fee and park in the overflow lot by the park office.

Check-in is 4 p.m., and checkout is 10 a.m. The rental season begins on the first Friday in March and ends on the first Sunday of November. Cabin rental and cancellation policies apply. There is a two-night minimum rental during the rest of the camping season.

Maximum occupancy four. Sleeps three. One queen-sized and a twin-sized trundle pull-out. Guests must bring sleeping bags or linens (sheets, pillowcases and blankets), towels, bath mat, kitchen towels and cloths.

No smoking, cooking or pets allowed in the yurt.

Each yurt has no electricity or water, but a common-use water spigot is shared among the yurts.

Dining table seats four.

No heat or air-conditioning.

Guests use the Cove View Campground bathhouse.

Yurts 3 and 4 are ADA-accessible.

Came for the Christmas lights experience. It was a lot of fun (fire pits, free marshmallows, letters to Santa, create your own ornament) and the tunnel is pretty incredible. I recommend riding the chairlift back up.

We had lots of fun as a family exploring and seeing the tunnel. There is also a cabin that is from 1774. It's very cool to see. Kids had fun playing in the water. We used the ski lift to go down to the tunnel and back up. They also have a small information area and a gift shop back up at the top. They charge a daily fee to come in and park $5 per car. And there is an optional trail instead of the ski lift. We opted to pay to use ski lift for both ways $5 per person. Overall, we had lots of fun and will be back.

Wonderful place! My family went here for Sukkot. The mountains were beautiful!! Our cabin was clean … cleaner than most hotels. My only complaint were the stink bugs cause we were near the woods. We hiked the mountain (which I do not recommend in flats, lesson learned, easy to hike down, had to take several stops going up) as well as took the lift (a short ride)to see the tunnel. So many nearby places to visit and see as well. I would definitely like to go again sometime.

Very nice in the fall. Camping facilities are clean and well kept. The weekend before Halloween, they had Appalachian storytelling and music on the platform at the base of the gorge/tunnel entrance. It was unique and fun. A lot of good, friendly people here.

Beautiful place to visit! It is a switch back hike down to the train tracks, but they do have a lift for those that struggle with incline/decline hike. It is amazing to see it when you time it just right with train.
