About Campground

If you want to go to a campground with a swimming pool, a bingo game, and an ice cream social, then we probably are not your ideal campground. There are wonderful campgrounds in the area that offer that type of experience. However, if you are looking for a campground that offers quiet moments around a fire, beautiful sunsets, and a peaceful walk through the woods, then you should probably make a reservation today.

Directions

Make your way to PA-28 between I-76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) to the south and US-422 to the north; take exit 16 (Freeport/Millerstown); turn onto Route 908 WEST (Millerstown Road); drive approximately 5 miles (just past a Yahama dealer on the right); turn right at the next intersection onto Thompson Road; bear right onto Sun Mine Road; Mountain Top Campground is on the left at the top of the hill.

Reservation Details

Please be aware: Google Maps and GPS devices have frequently been routing our campers through some terrible back road “short-cuts,” including low bridges and detours. Our beautiful, rural, “Mountain Top” location also means rural, mountainous roads, but we are easily accessed by even the largest RVs if you know how to go. Please remember that we know the best route to our location and follow our directions!

This is a very nice place. In the country but 25 minutes to Downtown Pittsburgh. The owners live on site and are very accommodating. No fancy amenities, just a nice quiet campground.

A full service campsite where the water was unusable. We used this campground as a place to sleep on our camping vacation since we planned on spending all of our time within the city. It is basically only good as a place to park. There are no amenities, not even a playground, and basically no shade. It is way more pet friendly than kid friendly.

The worst part was there was no water pressure. The water dribbled out of our facet. You could barely wash dishes much less shower with the water pressure. It was like that at ALL times! I'm rather upset that we paid for a site that had full hook-ups and couldn't even use it.

As close to perfect as you can get!! This campground is awesome! We got a premium lot so we had the most gorgeous view of the mountains!! The campground, itself, is extremely spacious and well maintained!! The bath house was pristine!!! I didn't mind paying $2 for a 7 minute shower considering we just left a campground whose bath houses should be condemned!! You can do a load of laundry for $2 and dry for free. They sell firewood and ice. The staff was very friendly and personable!! There is a lot of ground that could be used for perhaps a playground for kids or a pool. The only thing missing that could improve this place would be a lake or pond or some kind of body of water. Other than that, it's a hidden gem!!! Highly recommend!!!

This was a perfect base for visiting family in the area. Spacious sites, beautiful views, and peaceful, quiet surroundings. Sites 39 to 48 have the best views. Clean showers and restroom. Mostly self-service, checkin, firewood, and ice, but the owner stopped by to say hello after we got settled.

We definitely recommend this campground and will visit again!

Stayed at the Mountain Top campground recently. I'll definitely return the next time I travel to the Pittsburgh area. It's a clean, quiet, and well maintained campground. The pull thru sites are so spacious, which made it worth not having a view of the valley. I appreciate the quiet throughout the day as I sometimes work remotely on days when I'm not sightseeing. It was easy to get to thanks to the great directions. If you are looking for a great campground, I'd recommend Mountain Top.
