As a frame of reference for Knoxville, Tenn., folks, Pirates Marina Cove is a rundown version of Duncan's Boat Dock, but with oodles more personality and an even more peaceful setting. The owner, Ed Norton, "The Pirate," will regale you tall tales about Memphis music stars from the early 1900's who came to his marina in Tennessee and about nicknames of former Tennessee Highway Patrol commanders . . .not to mention his 1939 U.S. Navy sub tender that still runs like a charm, his collection of old cars on site, or the ancient yachts at his marina that are about to be restored. An absolute must see!
