Pond5We are open year-round. Come experience unique seasonal adventures including kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, or just sit back, relax and take in the natural surroundings.
The property is located on Runaround Pond which is composed of two shallow, river-like tributaries approximately 2 miles long. This quiet pond is perfect for a peaceful paddle in a canoe where you can view wildlife including beavers, otters, eagles, osprey, kingfishers, herons, frogs, turtles, bass and pickerel. And if you are interested in winter camping, the pond makes for great ice skating, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. We are family friendly and dog friendly. Children and dogs are free, so a visit to Maine Forest Yurts makes for a great family vacation!
I would highly recommend a stay at Maine forest yurts. The yurt was comfortable and I actually loved the outdoor bucket shower! It wasn’t too hot during our stay so we heated up some water on the stove to add and the water temp was perfect.
The hosts were amazing and gave us so much info on where to go around the area. There was a full days worth of stuff to do right on site as well. We woke early and hiked their trails to the canoes. Beautiful area and we had so much fun on the canoe. After that we headed to find the pond that they have and went for a little dip. Beautiful setting and so quiet and serene. One of my favorite things they had was a little obstacle course, survivor style. I have always wanted to run those obstacles on the show so being able to do just a small piece of one was amazing.
Overall, we stayed in 5 different places while in Maine and this was our favorite! Highly recommend. The hosts went above and beyond for us in so many ways so thank you guys! If we ever come that way again we will be coming back!
Want to get away. Great place to go. Small campsite. Quite : very clean . Furry friends welcomed. Bathroom and showers about 40 yd walk. You have access to a trial near by with some great views. Small kitchen everything is provided just fill the tank with water and bring food. No fridge so bring a cooler for drinks and whatever food you are going to cook. Great place to visit. I’ll be sure you book another weekend trip.
Amazing! Was so impressed with the yurt amenities and Bob is probably the coolest person I have ever met. Can't wait to go back! Really enjoyed the canoeing even though we went into the drink : )
This was a wonderful experience for me and my partner. Our favorite part was the kayaking and being able to have a break from our busy day to day lives away from others but still within reach. Very quick responses to questions and needs. Just be ready to shower with some bugs but that's nature for you.
A truly wonderful camping experience. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few nights as a quick getaway and to do some much needed connecting with nature. We stayed in the Fisher Ridge Yurt, which was spacious and clean and very comfortable!
The yurts can fit six people comfortably and have small kitchens with cookware, stoves, ovens, and a drip coffee maker. (Coffee, granola bars, sugar, and shelf stable creamer were available but we also brought our own.) Definitely bring a cooler for cold items and plenty of fresh drinking water. There are private outhouses and outdoor gravity showers. There are plenty of hiking trails, but unfortunately due to the very wet Maine summer this year, a lot of them were washed out when we went exploring. We still had a great time and we look forward to coming back sometime!
