Lyons Gulch is a free BLM site featuring a boat launch, which includes a toilet and five campsites. Campsite #1 can accommodate larger groups. The restroom is closed November 15th to May 15th. Cat holes are not permitted due to the proximity to the river. Do not camp in this location during heavy rains due to mud slides and flooding. For more information, please contact the Colorado River Field Office.
Take the Dotsero exit off I-70 (exit 133). Head north on the Colorado River Road. Lyons Gulch Recreation Site is 3.8 miles up on the right.
These are walk-in campsites! You will need to carry your gear in. This was a bummer as we definitely could not camp here with a RV.
My family and I recently camped here and it was wonderful, lots of campsites right next to the Colorado River. I recommend to get there early they fill up quick. Beware of the mountain lions they come down to the river at night. Not too many options for big Campers or RV trailers but lots of campsites for tents. Easy to get to from I-70. Right now there is a fire restriction so try to bring your own propane stoves for backup.
Nice river access and boat launch. There is a small restroom here and a decent amount of parking.
Sweet spot to camp down by the Colorado river. There is a restroom and several campsites right on the rivers edge. All the campsites have nice tree cover and a decent spot to pitch a tent This free campsite is easy to get to from I-70 and is very beautiful. Plenty of parking
