Out of the way, fairly quiet, nice area. A little overgrown sometimes, but nothing too bad and not a problem for me personally. You'll need a vehicle with some ground clearance to make it up there. My truck can make it in 2wd, so 2wd vehicles with some all terrains is fine. The most intense part is actually the little uphill bit to the campgrounds themselves. Very rutted, but you can drive between and above the ruts with little skill. Lots of wildlife, especially bob cats and mountain lions. They tend to stay away from the road and grounds, but they are around so be cautious. Lots of big frogs and toads during and after the rainy season. Plenty of owls all year round. Great place to go away for a night, especially since it's so close for Orcutt/SM residents.
