Dispersed Camping on the shore of Lake Isabella. Vault toilet available. No trash recepticals available (Pack In-Pack Out). ALL Upper Kern Dispersed Camping sites, under restrictions - No Camping or Campfires are allowed within 25 feet of the water’s edge.
Beautiful place the water is high right now but the amount of garbage that you people leave is pathetic. I mean it doesn't take much to clean up after yourself. You filthy people all the dispersed camping around here just loaded with garbage. I see zero out of state tags so that means it's all Californians. Y'all doing up complaining up here about the rest of the world but yet refuse to do anything
I tried out some dispersed camping here at Hanning Flat and I was driving towards the lake and my car got stuck in sand. It was a dumb mistake but I learned my lesson. Luckily, I was able to make phone calls and use internet on my phone from here. I called for help and got out. Just a warning for any off-road newbies out there. Pay attention and don't drive towards the lake unless you know for sure your vehicle can handle sand and make sure you have a shovel and a tire traction device with you in case you still get stuck. Here'a photo of my car in the sand and a pin drop to show the location where I was stuck.
Nice place for free & legal dispersed camping, plenty of space and cool little rocky hill to climb. Vistas in all directions for days. 4WD vehicle would be fun here.
