Our latest visit was our sixth trip to Rockport. Very nice park, however we noticed several changes on this trip. We had a friend come pick us up for dinner, just in and out. She was stopped and asked to pay $10 to drive in. Not a positive experience. Site needs to add a few BBQ pits in park and should close screened in back porch of club house for exercise equipment. We need a few pieces of equipment to help keep us healthy. Must add, park was less than 5% full - In the past it was difficult to find a spot in November. Maintenance has gone down when referencing grounds. Final comment on staff, they were nice and helpful.
Huge KOA! Very well tended property. Everything we did was within a 3 mile radius of the KOA. The staff kept us up to date on everything we needed to know by text. We will definitely come back…maybe in March next time…Feb. was too cold.
If you enjoy high drama and lots of text messages from the “GM” then this is the place for you! For many years now we have been avid supporters of KOA and will continue to do so, but we will avoid this KOA at all costs and cannot recommend it to anyone. A paying customer should NEVER be privy to office matters/problems/drama via public texts to the extent we have been inundated with. It is unbelievable and if you spend any length of time here, you will get a good dose of it. We have NEVER been exposed to this before in a KOA or any other campground for that matter and it is a management problem (love throwing the word “corporate” around). High drama, huge ego’s, problems are not resolved when brought to management and every stall seems to have a different set of “rules”. Sadly many others feel the same, but are too nervous to say anything. This has been one of the most bizarre stays we have ever had and we will never return. There is a reason it is nearly empty, especially when you go around to the other campgrounds in the area that are ALL full and turning people away. Beware of this KOA and if you have to stay, make it short.
We had a nice stay here considering the freezing temps. They sent us updates on a regular basis when the water line froze in the park and did their best to get things working as quickly as they could. They have a great DVD exchange which we love and a very nice pool and clubhouse. Laundry and washrooms were very nice and they did not limit the hours on them. The staff were very nice and the site was clean and well maintained.
Beautiful accommodations! Nice, clean, almost new. No trees and mosquitoes were an issue, mostly when walking in the grass. Some sights had a view of the bay while others were a little drab. Definitely one of the BEST KOA we have been to. The 4 star is because of the limited beauty of the camp. The camp workers were phenomenal! They had an Italian night for the campers but sadly had only about three families show. They also had a Valentine's Day/ trivia contest and it was a big hit! So they do get involved with the campers and that was quite fun.
