Located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, this secluded, 39-acre resort on Stecoah Creek is surrounded by the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. The area has some of the best motorcycle riding in the world.
Iron Horse is within minutes of the famous Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, the scenic Cherohala Skyway, Moonshiner 28, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee , Fontana Dam, and the Nantahala River Gorge. Whether you are on a cruiser, sport bike or dual sport, Iron horse is where riders stay and play.
Established 2003 ~ For Riders By Riders
Owners John and Charlene Powell decided that motorcycle riders needed a resort destination of their own. Wanting to bridge the free spirit of the old west with the free spirit of the modern motorcyclists, we designed the Iron Horse with a western flair. We planned to offer a wide range of accommodations and facilities.

10 thumbs up for the Iron Horse Lodge. We spent a week in the RV park. We do a lot of traveling and were amazed at how well we were treated by the staff and the owners. They really went out of their way to make us feel like family. We highly recommend staying with them.
Just spent the weekend there and the place was amazing! The staff is wonderfully friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the entertainment was fantastic! The room I stayed it was nice with a comfy bed and A/C which was perfect after a long day of riding. I will definitely be back for another visit, or two or three!
Great atmosphere. I stayed in one of the stagecoaches. What a cool experience. Got locked out of my room Afterhours and they had someone on property let me back in. Big thanks to them for that. Cozy and private but also has an area to hang with other bikers if you’re looking for camaraderie. 10/10 would stay there again.
Perfect place to be based riding the great roads including the Tail of the Dragon. We spent 3 nights with a small trailer at a plug in site beside the big RV's due to a booking mix-up. Staff were helpful in sorting it out. A variety of accommodations including tent and RV sites as well as cabins.. Great camaraderie of fellow riders. Highly recommend it as a comfortable stay. Nice clean showers and the coin laundry is a bonus. Restaurant is not open everyday so check when making reservations.
This was a great stay! We stayed in a private room over the weekend and it was quite lovely. We were in the area for a trail running race and stayed here with several other groups who were also there for the race. Staff was accommodating and very friendly. Room was clean and the view was beautiful. The creek running through the campground was super pretty. It would be great for summer to wade in the creek. We’re already looking forward to the race next year! We’ll also make sure to stay here if we’re ever in the area.
